We hope you’ll join in as many ways as you can!

Here are some options:

1) Walk with us. Check out the route and let us know you’re coming. We’d love company along the way.

2) Register voters. The goal of this march is register 100,000 new voters. That’s a giant goal and we will need all hands on deck to reach it. You can point people here to register.

3) Donate. We’re partnering with A LOT of organizations that have been doing the work long before we came to town. We’ll use donated funds to cover the costs of the March (keeping those as low as possible) and then divide all remaining funds across our partner organizations.

4) Post about it. Our chance of success goes up every time you share a post on social media or send this link to a group chat.

A core group of content creators - Robert Arnold (@defiance13_), George Lee (@theconsciouslee), Qasim Rashid (@QasimRashid), and Lacey Dickinson (@feminist_news_now) will be walking the route. Many other creators will be joining for specific segments.

We have a security plan for every leg of the route.

Walkers will have access to water, medics, and an RV (for shelter).

We will not stop overnight in any historic sundown towns. (Sundown towns are places that forced black people - often violently - to leave town limits at sunset everyday.)

We have a team focused on route and walker security but we’re not gonna put those details on the internet for all to see. If you have specific questions or concerns, please reach out to us.

First, donations cover the cost of the March itself, including travel, security, sag wagon, hotel (no, not the Ritz), and food. Most of those costs are already covered by a few generous sponsors.

Money that we raise beyond March costs will be divided across our partner organizations. Partner organizations are identified by state c3 donor tables (organizations that organize the organizations) because the people closest to the work know where the funds will do the most good.

This March is coming together FAST. The whole point is to register these voters ahead of the midterms, so we have to move quickly. That means that our partner list is…evolving…as we’re able to get in touch with leaders across the South.

Is there an organization you love but you don’t see them on our list? Send them the organization form so we know to reach out!

(Robert does wish that he had this idea in, say, January when we would have had 8 months to plan… but he didn’t and we don’t reject good ideas just because the timeline is tight.)

There are SO many terrific organizations that register new voters, support voting rights, and fight gerrymandering.

Folks at those organizations are experts at what they do. (And thank goodness for that!)

Meanwhile, we’re experts at generating attention outside of the usual political circles.

When it comes to registering new voters, we need as many strategies as we can get. Our plan is to leverage our social media platforms to reach audiences that aren’t easy for our partner orgs to reach.

By combining our areas of expertise - on the ground organizing + digital organizing - we can have a greater impact together than we would ever have working alone.

First - let’s be clear - our goal is 100,000 new voters across the country. Not only will we be supporting organizations doing registration work along the route, but we will also be calling to citizens across the country to register themselves and their neighbors using the online tool FeelGoodAction.

The purpose of setting such an enormous goal is to challenge ourselves and you .

Registering voters is really hard. Organizers who do this work well are probably facepalming over a goal this large…because they know the truth about how ridiculously challenging the work is.

We don’t think that we are magical unicorns who can somehow register voters at a rate that no one else can...

We do think that this is a moment that calls for taking big chances.

And so, we’re aiming high and choosing to believe that with all of our powers combined, we can achieve this audacious goal.

We sure don’t want it to be.

Our intention is to center the people and organizations doing the work on the ground. We are deeply committed to supporting the folks doing this work day in and day out.

But, facing facts, there’s no denying that this is Robert’s brainchild and Robert happens to be white. With good reason, people are naturally suspicious of a Southern white man with an idea. And we’re talking a lot about Civil Rights and racism.

If you feel suspicious, that’s ok. We hope to earn your trust and be worthy of your support by the end of this March. Slide in to our DMs and let us know how we’re doing (as if you wouldn’t!)

We hope folks can take some comfort in the fact that we are a diverse team of creators and activists. Our diversity includes, but is not limited to, the color of our skin. This March is better for the diverse perspectives we bring to this work.

So, to be clear, we aren’t here to save anyone.

We’re here to put our feet and our platforms to good use. We’re here to shine the brightest spotlight we can on the people who are making a difference every day. We’re here to register as many voters as we possibly can and break these racist Southern gerrymanders wide open.

Summer in the South means that it will storm on us. In case of thunderstorms, we’ll seek shelter in a follow along van and/or in local businesses along the route.

We aren’t made of sugar, so we won’t melt. If it’s just a little rain shower, we’ll keep walking.

As for the heat. Yes. It will be wickedly hot. We’ll take midday walk breaks as the weather forecast dictates to stay out of the sun during the hottest parts of the day.

It will be uncomfortable at times. We’ll survive.
